Meet the Staff

Ian Rosser

Ian Rosser, an Optometrist with over 25 years experience, has been interested in Colour Vision for many years. He originally began to help people to improve their colour vision enhancement in 1999 and with new research and development, he finds that even more people can benefit from improving their Colour discrimination than ever before.

With hundreds of patients now enjoying the benefits of these lenses, he has a vast amount of experience when it comes to evaluating and assessing those with colour vision deficiencies and in choosing the most suitable lenses for each patient.

'Having a good understanding of the Colour Vision process helps me to have empathy with my patients, who are often skeptical about there being a treatment.' Ian is committed to helping other Optomistrists distribute the lenses to people throughout the Australasian region. 'While these lenses are not a cure for colour deficiency, they go a long way to improving quality of life for many people.'

Rosanne Spratt

Roseanne is an Optical Dispenser with over 20 years experience and is working at the Colourblind Sight Centre assisting with the assessment for the lenses. Experience is very important when it comes to choosing the appropriate frames for the lenses and Roseanne understands the needs of those who wear spectacles. 'The lenses will last for many years so the frames must not only look good but fit well so that they to will endure the wear and tear.' She finds that dealing with people who have CVD is a very rewarding and at times emotional experience. 'Being present when someone first sees all these new colours is exhilarating.'

Sharron Shelley

Sharron is our main receptionist who has been with us for over 15 years. She is a kind and considerate person who understands the needs of our patients of all ages. Sharron greets patients with a smile and genuine warm welcome, whether they be the first or last of the day. She also has gained a good knowledge of which spectacle frames suit a person and happily gives her opinion on whether certain frames appeal or not.

David Spratt

David has over 26 years experience in making spectacles and choosing the correct frames for patients, and prides himself on being meticulous in his work. Our workshop has computerised edging equipment to cut the spectacle lenses to the exact shape required for a perfect fit into each frame, which saves time and means the lenses should not come out of the frames unless forced. David is also very experienced in repairing spectacle frames that have suffered damage.

Alice Forsyth

Alice joined the practice to help those children who have particular optical problems that affect their learning and development.

This is known as Developmental or Behavioural Optometry and Alice has designed various exercise programs for the children to perform at home and in office.
Alice’s particular interest is working with CHILDREN especially those who are underachieving or struggling. Working as a team with teachers and other health professionals, she is able to maximise each child’s potential. This is done using spectacles and/or vision therapy programs which teach a child how to most efficiently gather and use the information their eyes collect.

With over 20 years of optometric experience Alice has added to her qualification by:

  • Completing post-graduate study at the University of NSW in Behavioural Optometry.
  • Undertaking a 3 year Fellowship with the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists.
  • Regular conferences and intensive courses as part of her membership to the Australasian College of Behavioural Optomtertists.

See www.acbo.org.au for further information

Alice also has experience with prescribing aids for those with vision loss, having consulted to the Royal Blind Society of NSW, in their LOW VISION CLINIC.
